Job Summary
Under immediate supervision, is responsible for performing patrol and security work at a City facility or related area. Exercises no supervision.
Work LocationHenry B Gonzalez Convention Center – 900 E Market, San Antonio, TX 78205
Work Schedule- 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
- 10:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
- Hours are based on operational need, to include weekends and holidays.
- Patrol assigned areas to eliminate or report fire hazards, deter thefts, vandalism, or violence.
- Takes necessary action to detain or prevent entry by unauthorized persons.
- Checks building, facility, and equipment fixtures, and reports conditions by touring, moving about, and observing.
- Monitors and maintains station at entry/exit points to City activities.
- Provides information and directions to customers and the general public.
- Maintains activity logs using office equipment and communicates or dispatches through the use of a two‑way radio.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
- One (1) year experience as a Security Guard or security‑related experience.
- Valid Class “C” Texas Driver’s License.
- Three (3) years of experience as a security guard or security‑related experience.
- Knowledge of applicable security guard orders, requirements, instructions, and procedures.
- Knowledge of First Aid, safety rules, procedures, and practices.
- Knowledge of crowd control techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of emergency procedures and methods.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Ability to act quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain good public relations.
- Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position, with or without accommodations.
- Working conditions are in a large building complex or stadium environment with occasional exposure to hostile people and emergency situations.
