Position Overview

The Loss Prevention Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of hotel guests, team members, and property. This role provides a visible security presence, monitors hotel activity, responds to incidents and emergencies, and enforces hotel safety and security policies. The Loss Prevention Officer plays a critical role in protecting assets and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment within a full-service hotel.

What

You’ll Do Safety & Security Operations
  • Patrol hotel property, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces, to ensure safety and security.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and access points to prevent unauthorized entry.
  • Enforce hotel safety, security, and loss prevention policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a visible presence to deter theft, vandalism, and unsafe behavior.
Incident Response & Reporting
  • Respond promptly to incidents including disturbances, accidents, thefts, and emergencies.
  • Provide assistance during medical situations, evacuations, and fire alarms.
  • Document incidents accurately and prepare detailed reports.
  • Preserve evidence and follow proper procedures during investigations.
Guest & Team Member Assistance
  • Assist guests and team members in a professional, calm, and courteous manner.
  • Address safety or security concerns promptly and elevate issues as needed.
  • Support VIP guests, special events, and high-traffic periods.
  • Provide directions and basic assistance as requested.
Monitoring & Surveillance
  • Monitor CCTV systems and security alarms as assigned.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify hazards, suspicious activity, or policy violations.
  • Report maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate department.
  • Support key control and access log procedures.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and emergency response protocols.
  • Assist with fire life safety procedures and emergency drills.
  • Support audits, inspections, and loss prevention initiatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in training sessions and department meetings.
  • Assist with crowd control and traffic management during peak periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support hotel operations.
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the job.
  • Assist with Lost & Found procedures.
  • What You’ll Bring Required Education & Experience
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
    Preferred Education & Experience
    • Previous security or loss prevention experience preferred.
    • Experience in hospitality, hotel, or service‑oriented environments preferred.
    • Training in emergency response or safety procedures preferred.

    • Strong observation, judgment, and decision‑making skills.
    • Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to patrol on foot and stand for extended periods.
    • Ability to write clear and accurate reports.
    • Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation.

    Certifications:
    • CPR Certification required.
