Salary Range: $61,000–$64,480, depending on qualifications.

• Serve as a Campus Security Authority in compliance with the Federal Clery Act.
• Make frequent vehicle, bicycle or foot patrols of the campus to provide a police presence and ensure a sense of security.
• During night hours, individually check campus buildings for security violations (e.g., unlocked doors, presence of unauthorized personnel or intruders).
• Investigate all complaints of alleged offenses or other violations of conduct and effect comprehensive interviews of complainants and witnesses.
• Secure crime scenes as necessary, collect physical evidence, and ensure evidence is appropriately marked and preserved for court proceedings.
• Question witnesses, provide credible testimony in state and U.S. courts, and maintain confidentiality.
• Preserve peace by lawful means, interceding to prevent or suppress crime.
• Execute all lawful process.
• Arrest offenders with and without warrant when authorized by law.
• Investigate criminal offenses to detect and arrest criminals and recover stolen or lost property.
• Enforce traffic law by detecting violations, contacting violators, placing violators in custody or issuing citations or warnings.
• Investigate motor vehicle collisions.
• Prepare written reports narrating law enforcement and police activities.
• Respond to any and all calls, whether emergency situations, injuries, or criminal nature.
• When an incident involves physical injury, obtain EMT services, remain at scene, and assist EMTs with traffic and crowd control.
• Provide escort services as needed to campus personnel, especially during night hours, to ensure personal safety.
• Unlock vehicles upon request if service can be performed without incurring financial liability.
• Provide authorized access to campus facilities for authorized persons, especially during nighttime.
• Serve as a liaison with the campus population to establish rapport and maintain effective communication.
• Direct motor vehicle traffic during congestion and provide similar services when requested by local authorities contiguous to the campus.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including responding to disturbances in offices, classrooms, or other facilities.

• High school diploma or higher in a related field.
• One (1) year of related experience.

• Associate's Degree and two (2) years of full‑time employment.
• Three (3) years of higher education or campus law enforcement experience.

• Must meet minimum licensing requirements as required by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) §217.1 and Texas A&M System Regulation 34.06.01.
• Must have a Peace Officer Proficiency (or Basic, Intermediate, Advance, or Master) certificate from TCOLE Rule §221.1.
• Must hold a valid driver's license not subject to suspension.

• Successfully complete the Texas A&M University‑San Antonio Police Officer Field Training program.
• Be proficient with all equipment used in assigned duties, including firearms, restraints, less‑lethal force weapons, automobiles, communication equipment, personal computers, radar, and mobile video recording equipment.
• Demonstrate logical, effective problem‑solving ability.
• Provide credible testimony in a court of law.
• Be able to work day or night on any of three shifts with varying days off and holidays.
• Perform in outside weather conditions.
• Possess physical and mental capabilities necessary to carry out duties (running, jumping, carrying, reaching above head, lowering, hand‑wrist and elbow motion, holding).
• Understand state and federal laws and university policies and procedures.
• Be cognizant of proper use of force and deadly force.
• Maintain certifications and acquire additional certifications (basic, intermediate, advanced) as required.
• Understand Clery reportable crimes, timely warnings, and emergency notification requirements.

• Comply with Texas A&M System Policies and TCOLE standards concerning age, physical, mental and educational requirements.
• Successfully pass a medical and psychological test and exam.
• Be fingerprinted and subject to a search of local, state and U.S. national records.
• Have never been convicted of family violence offenses, and not prohibited from operating a motor vehicle or possessing firearms or ammunition.
• Must not have had a dishonorable or bad conduct discharge from the military.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
