The purpose of the Residence Hall Security Coordinator is to provide and ensure general safety and security of university residence halls, as well as oversee lobby and desk areas within halls to minimize disturbances and infractions of rules during nighttime hours.

• Monitors lobby and desk areas during shift for safety and security.
• Monitors door access and camera system and reports suspicious activity to supervisor and/or authorities.
• Checks to ensure that all exterior entrances are functioning and secure.
• Handles emergency procedures in accordance with University Housing and Dining (UHD) policies and procedures as outlined in the Resident Manual and the Night Operations and Desk Manual.
• Alerts residence life on-call staff and/or the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD) of potential problems.
• Checks student IDs entering between 12AM and 8AM, enforcing University and Residence Hall rules and regulations.
• Provides customer service to residents requesting temporary IDs and keys.
• Checks in overnight guests.
• Provides general education to residential students and guests about safety and security.
• Supports UHD programs, priorities, and special events such as opening and closing.
• Assists with student late check‑ins and check‑outs.
• Serves on departmental and divisional committees and work groups.
• Shares ideas and recommendations for improving safety and security policies, practices, and operations.
• Collaborates and communicates with other residence life staff, such as Resident Assistants, Complex Coordinators, and Assistant Directors.
• Assists with staff selection, training, and development.
• Attends residence life all staff meetings and Night Operations bi‑weekly meetings.

• High school graduation or GED.
• Experience providing safety and security for a building or group or individuals.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

• Experience working with young adults in a university residence life setting.
• Experience working in a clerical/office setting.
• Experience handling confidential or security sensitive information.
• Experience in and knowledge of the University of Texas and UHD Residence Hall Policies and Procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, and demonstrated ability to learn new software programs.
• Demonstrated ability to receive, respond, and follow through with verbal work‑related instructions and requests from supervisors, customers, and co‑workers.
• Demonstrated effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

$39,520+ depending on qualifications.

May work in all weather conditions. May work around standard office conditions.
