The Intelligence Lead Analyst is a senior level professional responsible for driving efforts to prevent, monitor and respond to information/data breaches and cyber-attacks. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the execution of Information Security directives and activities in alignment with Citi's data security policy.
Responsibilities- Analyze financial crime, fraud, and scam intelligence to identify correlations to existing intelligence requirements, strategic priorities, and emerging threat trends.
- Monitor and research fraud and scam threats with a direct or indirect impact on Citi, its clients, products, channels, and brand.
- Conduct intelligence investigations into fraud campaigns, social engineering schemes, mule networks, account takeover activity, synthetic identity fraud, business email compromise, and other financial crime threats.
- Research and identify emerging fraud methodologies, criminal tactics, and threat actor behaviors through internal data, external intelligence sources, and industry collaboration.
- Analyze fraud patterns, victimization trends, and threat actor activity to identify indicators, vulnerabilities, and opportunities for risk reduction.
- Produce strategic, tactical, and operational intelligence reporting to support fraud prevention, investigations, customer protection, and risk management functions.
- Develop threat assessments and forecasts on emerging fraud trends, scam typologies, organized crime activity, and potential impacts to the firm and its customers.
- Liaise with law enforcement, financial crime intelligence units, peer financial institutions, industry forums, and information-sharing communities to facilitate intelligence exchange and threat awareness.
- Triage, process, analyze, and disseminate intelligence alerts, reports, advisories, and executive briefings related to fraud, scams, and financial crime threats.
- Support fraud investigations by identifying connections between threat actors, criminal networks, victim activity, and broader fraud ecosystems.
- Partner with Fraud, AML, Investigations, Compliance, Security, and Business Risk teams to enhance enterprise understanding of financial crime threats and mitigation strategies.
- Manage relationships with third-party intelligence, investigative, and fraud prevention providers, including vendor evaluation, onboarding, contract oversight, performance monitoring, and capability optimization.
- 6-10 years of experience in forensic accounting, fraud intelligence, financial crime investigations, asset tracing, law enforcement, intelligence analysis, or related disciplines.
- Experience investigating fraud schemes, scam operations, money laundering activity, organized criminal networks, and other forms of financial crime.
- Knowledge of digital assets, cryptocurrency investigations, blockchain analytics, and crypto-enabled financial crime.
- Demonstrated ability to trace funds, identify beneficial ownership structures, and uncover complex financial relationships across individuals, entities, and accounts.
- Experience producing actionable intelligence assessments, investigative reports, and executive briefings.
- Strong analytical, investigative, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven influencing, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience required.
- Degree concentration in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Criminal Justice, Intelligence Studies, Business Administration, Fraud Examination, Law, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant professional certifications including CPA, CFE, CAMS (ACAMS), or equivalent professional credentials preferred.
