The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for THREE full-time Transportation Assistants (Freight), (GG-2102-07), working at the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division, Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) – Lackland Air Force Base (AFB), San Antonio, Texas
Salary ($51,201 - $66,563) based on experience
Recruitment, Relocation, and Retention incentives may be available based on experience.
This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) position aligned under authorities of Section 1601, Chapter 83 of Title 10, United States Code and DoD Instruction 1400.25-V2007.
Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for; you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

Qualifications/RequirementsIn this position you will serve as a Transportation Assistant performing cargo movement duties in support of the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Signal Intelligence (SIGINT), Force Protection and Nuclear Treaty Monitoring missions and the Air Force’s sole Cryptologic and Cyber Wholesale Depot. The incumbent would provide transportation support and solutions to various programs in support of contract negotiations and purchases, to include acquisition, sustainment, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS).
The incumbent would execute daily cargo operations and effectively utilize available resources to properly receipt, pack, plan, and ship materiel to support global customer needs in accordance with governing laws, regulations and policy.

Must be able to obtain & maintain a “Top Secret/SCI” Security clearance
This position is designated as a Drug Test Designated Position
The incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid drivers license and/or DoD license required for the type of vehicle driven.
The incumbent will be required to operate a forklift and must complete appropriate certification.
- Knowledge of extensive wide range traffic management principles, policies, practices, laws, regulations, techniques, and operations to include those concerning economics of transportation; commercial carrier operations and tariffs; hazardous, classified, extraordinary, and sensitive materials; packing and preservation standards and related areas such as US and foreign customs import/export requirements as these involve air, motor, rail, and water movements.
- Knowledge of Defense Transportation System (DTS) and the extensive reach/capability provided by the DTS and how to exploit the capability in effectively and efficiently providing transportation-related services to AFLCMC/HNC Programs supporting global operations with COMSEC, SIGINT, Cyber, Force Protection and Nuclear Treaty Monitoring missions with timely and accurate logistics support.
- Knowledge of transportation funding, freight rates and Third-Party Payment Systems (TPPS) execution to manage and pay for commercial/organic movement of supplies and equipment.
- Detailed knowledge of standardized COMSEC procedures/functions/operations, forms and nomenclature, program requirements and work methods to include proficiency in the use of wholesale logistics management systems (i.e. CLASS, CDAS, etc.).
- Ability to effectively leverage the DTS to ship cargo through the technical application of various United States Transportation Command automated traffic management systems.
