Position: San Antonio, Tx- Lvl 2 Cable Tech

* Description*

This is going to be supporting different projects in the San Antonio area. 2 projects on the west side, 1 near the Rim and 1 in Kerrville.

Perform pre-termination procedures: organize, form, dress cables and determine length, slack, and label cables. Suspend and support cable correctly:
Cable tray, J-hook, D-rings, Bridal rings, Trapeze. Build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.

  • Experience pulling Fiber Optic Cable
  • Experience testing Fluke
  • Experience terminating copper and Fiber
  • Experience "dressing" cable is a plus
  • The Low Voltage Technician will install a work area outlet for floor or wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly, adhere to company labeling standards).

    The Low Voltage Technician will build closets (mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. Complete all IDC connections (e.g., terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).

    The Low Voltage Technician performs testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt‑ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable; use a tone set.

    The Low Voltage Technician will identify active voice or data circuits.

    The Low Voltage Technician will assume responsibility for effective performance of crew and provide necessary training, coordinate personnel and timeline to complete project.

    The Low Voltage Technician will fully complete all paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).

    The Low Voltage Technician will adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.

    The Low Voltage Technician will complete other responsibilities as assigned.

    The Low Voltage Technician must be self‑motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvement(s). The Low Voltage Technician must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients and business partners. The Low Voltage Technician must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s). The Low Voltage Technician must possess proven problem‑solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentations.

    The Low Voltage Technician must be able to work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds. The Low Voltage Technician must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones. The Low Voltage Technician must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.

    * Pay and Benefits*

    The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
