Job Title: HVAC Filter Worker

Exemption Status: Nonexempt/At-Will
Reports to: Director of Maintenance

Pay Grade: H3
Dept./School: MOST

Calendar Days: 226/261

Primary Purpose:
Perform maintenance and repair of the district's air conditioning and heating filters.
This includes all air handlers and air distribution systems.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Clear and valid Texas driver's license
Acceptable driving record
High School diploma or GED from a state accredited high school or educational program

Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing and electrical
Must be able to climb roof tops; carry HVAC equipment and ladders
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
Ability to operate hand and power tools
Ability to work independently
Ability to complete basic HVAC purchase orders

Experience:
Two years experience working with air conditioning and heating systems preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair
1. Order, replace and/or clean the district's HVAC air conditioning and heating air filters.
2. Cleans HVAC ductwork, including supply and return air grills.
3. Carry and climb two ladders 24' and 28' to work on roofs.
4. Carry A/C window units that will be removed and installed.
5. Keeps records of equipment and air filter changes current and maintains good housekeeping and safety habits.
6. Secure and maintain all assigned personal tools, equipment and district vehicles in working condition.
7. Perform shop and industrial housekeeping practices that are in areas associated with the systems being maintained.
8. Independently assesses the work situation on site, determines the best method of accomplishment and takes the necessary corrective action while following acceptable safety practices.
9. Must be able to drive and maintain an acceptable driving record due to insurance requirements regarding district vehicles.
10. Performs other job-related duties in order to complete projects as assigned by HVAC foreman or other designee.
11. Complete repairs as directed on work orders or by maintenance foreman.

Safety
12. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures.
13. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
14. Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.
15. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Tools/Equipment Used: Small hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools; light truck or van
Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent district wide travel
