Job Title:
Finish Carpenter
This position is ideal for an experienced finish carpenter who specializes in the installation of high-end architectural millwork, casework, and specialty items in commercial environments. You will interpret blueprints and shop drawings, plan your work independently, and perform precise installations of wood, plastic laminate, and metal components while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Responsibilities- Install architectural woodwork (AWW), including high-end wood millwork, trim, and cabinetry in commercial settings.
- Install plastic laminate (PL) casework and metal casework systems according to project specifications and quality standards.
- Install specialty items such as fume hoods, laboratory fixtures, and related components with a high level of precision and care.
- Perform jobsite pre-planning, including assessing required tools, materials, layout, and installation sequence before beginning work.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate and compliant installations.
- Execute installations efficiently while maintaining precise measurements, clean finishes, and overall high-quality workmanship.
- Use tape measures, hand tools, and hand and power tools safely and accurately for cutting, fitting, and assembling components.
- Coordinate work with other trades and crew members to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
- Work independently or as part of a crew, taking responsibility for completing assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Follow all company safety policies and jobsite protocols at all times, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify, report, and help mitigate potential hazards, and exercise Stop Work Authority when necessary to maintain a safe worksite.
- Maintain situational awareness on the jobsite to protect yourself, your crew, and surrounding personnel and property.
- Report incidents, injuries, and near misses immediately according to company and jobsite procedures.
- Support general construction activities as needed, including rough carpentry, drywall-related tasks, formwork, metal stud work, and general labor associated with millwork and casework installation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of finish carpentry experience, preferably in commercial construction environments installing millwork and/or casework.
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings accurately.
- Demonstrated experience installing architectural millwork, plastic laminate casework, and metal casework systems.
- Strong finish carpentry skills, including cabinetry, trim work, and detailed installation of high-end finishes.
- Proficiency with hand tools and hand and power tools commonly used in carpentry and millwork installation.
- Ability to perform precise measurements and layout using a tape measure and other measuring tools.
- Capability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Commitment to following safety policies, using proper PPE, and adhering to jobsite safety protocols at all times.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in architectural millwork installation in commercial or institutional facilities.
- Background in plastic laminate casework and metal casework systems in environments such as hospitals or laboratories.
- Exposure to installing specialty items such as fume hoods and lab fixtures.
- Experience with rough carpentry, drywall-related work, formwork, metal stud framing, and new construction.
- Comfort performing general labor tasks associated with construction and millwork installation.
- Strong problem-solving skills for field adjustments and layout challenges.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other trades and construction team members.
This is a Contract position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
