The Underground Utility Foreman supervises crews installing wet and dry utilities in a variety of settings, including water lines, storm drain and sanitary sewer lines, and dry conduits. The foreman may also be assigned to heavy highway, underground utilities, commercial site work, street improvements, wastewater, and water projects.
Responsibilities- Read, understand, interpret and enforce safety policies and practices.
- Examine blueprints to determine dimensions of the structure.
- Lays out floor-plan/worksite as needed.
- Determine sequence of activities concerning fabrication, assembly, and erection of the structure.
- Assign workers to tasks.
- Inspect work performed by subordinates to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product to increase efficiency of the work crew.
- Analyze and resolve work problems, assist workers in solving work problems, and initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
- Maintain a general knowledge of equipment used on the job, including basic understanding of equipment limits and designed purposes.
- Has minimum 10 years experience with underground utility installation.
- Has minimum 5 years experience as a foreman over a crew.
- Preferred experience installing Storm Sewer/RCP, Waterline, and Sanitary Sewer.
- OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
- Has a crew to come with is a plus.
- Flexible availability to include overtime and weekends.
