Associate Structures Repair and Modification Technician – SAMC (4992)
Location:
San Antonio, TX. This role is within the SamC Back Shop team at Boeing Aerospace Operations.
- Perform close‑tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical support structures and fracture critical areas.
- Locate blind holes for the installation of new structural items into existing structure.
- Conduct sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving work in accordance with standard repair processes.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to execute structural modifications and repairs.
- Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot‑level modification and repair of structural parts.
- Apply knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components.
- Apply knowledge of aircraft sheet‑metal/structural modification and repair, and determine functionality of basic electrical systems.
- Work with aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet‑metal brakes and shears.
- Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate online parts and discrepancy requests.
- Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work.
- Ascend and descend vertical ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.
- Ensure a safe working environment through Hazardous Energy and Lock‑Out/Tag systems application.
- Pass an assessment during the training cycle.
- 4+ years of experience working with non‑porous metals (e.g., aluminum, titanium, stainless steel).
- 4+ years of experience with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures.
- 4+ years of experience using structural hand tools (drills, 45°/90° adapters, pancake adapters, countersink cages, hole finders, rivet guns).
- 4+ years of experience working heavy structures—locating, drilling, countersinking, and fastening structures to aircraft.
- Ability to work first or second shift.
- Experience with depot level/heavy structure maintenance.
- Capability to operate forklift, mobile crane, and riding electric‑powered elevating equipment.
- Summary Pay Rate: $75,000 per year / $36.06 per hour.
- Additive Pay: $1.00 per hour for Airframe Certification.
- Additive Pay: $1.00 per hour for Powerplant Certification.
