The Commercial Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial irrigation systems. This role ensures optimal system performance and water efficiency across multiple client properties. The technician works closely with supervisors, crew members, and clients to deliver high-quality service and workmanship in the field.
Job ResponsibilitiesInstallation, Maintenance & Repairs
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair irrigation components, including valves, heads, rotors, drip lines, lateral lines, and controllers
- Diagnose and resolve issues such as leaks, low pressure, and electrical faults
- Perform routine system inspections, replace damaged components, and ensure all irrigation zones function properly
System Programming & Client Support
- Program and adjust irrigation controllers for seasonal efficiency and client-specific watering needs
- Monitor water usage and recommend conservation improvements when appropriate
- Communicate clearly with team members and educate clients on system operation and maintenance
Safety, Equipment & Documentation
- Safely operate trenchers, pipe pullers, and hand tools; maintain tools and vehicles in good working condition
- Follow all safety procedures and use proper PPE at all times
- Accurately complete work orders, service reports, and documentation; promptly report potential system issues
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on irrigation experience
- Valid Texas Driver’s License required
- TCEQ Irrigator Technician certification or Licensed Irrigator required
