We are seeking an experienced HVAC mechanic to join Johnson Controls' HVAC Data Center Travel Team, responsible for maintaining and installing advanced commercial HVAC systems across North America. The role requires significant travel (50–75%) and offers comprehensive training, safety focus, and progression opportunities.
Responsibilities- Travel 50%–75% of the time to support data center, hospital, manufacturing and other critical facilities.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC equipment (chillers, compressors, pumps, rooftop units, building automation systems).
- Use modern diagnostic tools such as laser alignment and vibration analysis to ensure system performance.
- Diagnose issues, explain solutions, and ensure efficient operation for customers.
- Collaborate with team members, support apprentices, and share technical knowledge.
- Adhere to safety policies and contribute to the overall safety culture.
- Participate in the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices and hold a Universal EPA refrigerant license.
- Several years of experience on commercial or industrial HVAC systems.
- Proficient in troubleshooting a range of equipment including chillers, boilers, pumps, compressors, and related systems.
- Strong mechanical knowledge, including alignment, vibration diagnostics, and system operations.
- Excellent communication skills for explaining technical information to teammates and customers.
- Willingness to travel 50–75% of the time and maintain mobility.
- Union membership (United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices) or willingness to join.
- Hold a valid Universal EPA refrigerant license.
Pay range: $29.50–$36.87 per hour (determined by CBA/rate sheet). The position is part of a bargaining unit with benefits provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement.
