Position Summary
This entry‑level position supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems in newly constructed residential buildings. Working under the direct supervision of licensed plumbers, Plumbing Helpers gain hands‑on experience while assisting with various tasks on job sites. The role is ideal for individuals interested in learning the plumbing trade and growing within the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the installation of residential plumbing systems, including pipes, fittings, fixtures, and appliances.
- Support both rough‑in and trim‑out phases of plumbing work.
- Follow blueprints, project specifications, and local building codes.
- Help with system testing and inspection to ensure compliance and functionality.
- Retrieve, organize, and transport tools, materials, and equipment as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of vehicles, tools, and work spaces.
- Take direction from supervisors and communicate effectively with team members.
- Report hazardous or unsafe working conditions to supervisors promptly.
- Collaborate with other trades and construction teams on‑site to ensure timely project completion.
- Demonstrate consistent attendance, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Learn industry best practices through on‑the‑job training and mentorship.
Education:
None. 0–2 years of experience.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening and background check.
- Willingness to learn the plumbing trade and work in a team environment.
- Positive attitude and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic understanding of plumbing or construction is a plus.
- Physically able to perform tasks such as bending, crawling, kneeling, climbing ladders, and lifting heavy materials up to 50 lbs.
- Willing to travel to various job sites across the San Antonio area.
Work is performed outdoors and indoors on active construction sites, often exposed to weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and dust. Regularly required to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs. Must be comfortable working in confined spaces and sonal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel‑toed boots must be worn at all times on job sites.
Work schedules may occasionally include extended hours and weekends to meet project deadlines. Work environment may include loud noise levels and the use of power tools and machinery.
