Electronic Security Systems Technician
We are seeking an experienced Electronic Security Systems Technician to join our federal team supporting Fort Sam Houston and Camp Bullis in San Antonio, TX. The role may support other nearby bases at times.
Location: Fort Sam Houston / Camp Bullis, San Antonio, TX.
Schedule: Primarily day shift (8:00am – 4:00pm), Monday‑Friday.
Pay Range: $28.00 – $38.00 per hour, negotiable.
Benefits: Eligible for benefits from day one.
Vacation: 3 weeks paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, 10 standard holidays per year (6.5 weeks total).
Travel: 10–20% local travel.
Responsibilities- Conduct maintenance and service work on Electronic Security Systems, including access controls, intrusion detection, and camera systems.
- Install security devices and infrastructure as per installation plans, following NEC, company, and customer guidelines.
- Assist with security system programming and setup.
- Test equipment after installation or repairs to ensure proper operation.
- Conduct testing of the system at the signal‑receiving center to establish service.
- Coordinate installations with police/fire departments and manage necessary records for emergency call notifications.
- Help prepare estimates as instructed by the supervisor.
- Provide end‑user training.
- Work safely and responsibly, avoiding injuries and damage, and clean up installation debris.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial or industrial electronic security systems for low‑voltage intrusion, access control, CCTV, and digital recording systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational manuals.
- Effective oral and written communication skills; able to build cooperative working relationships.
- Proficient with hand and power tools, including mounting and securing equipment; ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
- Works well unsupervised and as part of a team environment.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Active Department of Defense Secret clearance or one active within last two years.
- Proficiency with Lenel, Vindicator, or Linx Predator Elite.
- Technical proficiency with fiber and network systems.
- Experience with a variety of commercial or industrial camera systems, particularly Lenel, Advantor, and similar.
- Lenel certification.
