Plains is seeking a Corrosion Technician to support integrity and reliability of pipeline and terminal assets across our midstream network. In this role, you will install, operate, and maintain cathodic protection systems, perform pipeline and tank inspections, collect and analyze corrosion data, and troubleshoot coating and CP issues. You will prepare technical reports, ensure regulatory and company standard compliance, and support integrity digs and repairs.

Working closely with operations and engineering, you will help drive safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible performance in a field-focused, safety-first culture.

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, and maintain cathodic protection systems for pipelines and tanks
  • Conduct pipeline, tank, and facility corrosion inspections and surveys
  • Collect, interpret, and report corrosion and CP system performance data
  • Troubleshoot coating defects, stray current, and CP system issues
  • Support integrity digs, repairs, and coating reconditioning activities
  • Ensure compliance with company integrity standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate records, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Coordinate work with operations, integrity, and engineering teams
  • Participate in safety programs, JSAs, and environmental protection activities
  • Support continuous improvement of corrosion control programs and procedures

Required Skills

  • Cathodic protection system operation and maintenance
  • Pipeline and tank corrosion inspection techniques
  • CP survey methods (close interval, DCVG, etc.)
  • Use of CP meters, data loggers, and test equipment
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and maps
  • Knowledge of coatings and corrosion mechanisms
  • Regulatory compliance for pipeline integrity
  • Technical report writing and documentation
  • Troubleshooting electrical and CP system issues
  • Field safety practices and safe work permits
