Concrete Finisher Form Setter

Responsibilities

• Set the forms that hold concrete to the desired pitch and depth, and align them.
• Check the forms that hold the concrete to ensure they are properly constructed.
• Spread, level, and smooth concrete, using a trowel, float, or screed.
• Monitor how the wind, heat, or cold affect the curing of the concrete throughout the entire process.
• Use groovers and hand trowels to spread concrete.
• Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surface of concrete.
• Mold expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
• Install anchor bolts, steel plates, door sills and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete.
• Perform tests on concrete and ensure it conforms to quality specifications.

Required Skills

• Proven ability in setting forms for concrete construction according to specified dimensions.
• Ability to spread, level, and smooth concrete skillfully.
• Familiarity with concrete composition and curing processes.
• Competence in using concrete finishing tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Basic arithmetic skills to calculate surface area and volume of materials.
