Position: Maintenance Mechanic - Production (Wurzbach Pump Station)

Starting Hourly Rate: $24.00. Rate of pay depends on qualifications. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Diagnose sand resolves standard waterorrecycled facility machinery,piping and equipment problems.
  • Performs predictive,preventative and correctivemaintenanceduties.
  • Tracks and records information required in work order documents and enters into computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and uses Microsoft Office.
  • Performs standard level diagnosticteststoresolveroutineproblems.
  • Repairsplantmachineryandequipment,using hoists,jacks,ladders,confinedspaceequipment,PPE, welding equipment,hand tools,squares,rules,micrometers,and other tools.
  • Dismantles,constructs and assemblesvariouscomponentsof facilities,industrial machineryor equipment.
  • Performs confined spaceentriesin hazardous environments.
  • Monitorsmechanicalequipmentand makesfunctionaladjustments.
  • Cleansand lubricatesmachineryand equipment according to specifications.
  • Identifiespartswithspecificationsand orders replacements.
  • Furnishes mechanical recommendation when ordering newparts,machinery and equipment.
  • Hasknowledgeof basic electrical and instrumentation principles.
  • Promotes and practicesasafeworkingenvironmentin an industrial setting.
  • Appliesbasicprinciplesofmechanicalmaintenance.
  • Performsworkin accordance with TCEQ,OSHA,and other applicablegovernmentregulations.
  • ReadsO&Mmanuals,as-built drawings,blockmaps,schematics,and construction plans.
  • Establishesandmaintainseffectiveworking relationship and public relations.
  • Mayoperateaforklift,poweredverticalliftingmachinery,utility truck,crane,combination unit,water tanker,orotherheavyequipment.
  • Performsotherdutiesasassigned.
DECISION MAKING
  • Receives general supervision.
  • May refer more complex issues to higher levels.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate.
  • Two years’ experience performing repairs and maintenance in the mechanical trade.
  • Ability to report to work on time, maintain a good attendance record, and work all designated work schedules.
  • Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License.
  • TCEQ Class "D" Water License within 6 months and Class "C" Groundwater Treatment Operator License within 12 months of hire.
  • Subject to climbing up to 200 feet in height.
PERFERED QUALIFICATIONS
  • TCEQ Class “C” Groundwater Treatment Operator License.
  • Valid Texas Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker and Hazardous Material endorsement.
JOB DIMENSIONS
  • Skill in applying basic math and measurement principles.
  • Skill in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs.
  • Skill in proficient use of materials, tools, and equipment commonly used in mechanical maintenance or repair of industrial facilities.
  • Ability to complete required SAWS coordinated training after hire on Confined space, HAZMAT Awareness, Lock Out Tag Out, Supervising for Safety, Fit Testing, Electrical Safety, and other certifications as required.
  • Ability to enter and maintain information in the computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, contractors and vendors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally and pushing/pulling a maximum force of 105 pounds. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling and working in cramped and strained positions for extended periods of time to perform job scope. Subject to climbing up to 200 feet in height.
