Work Hours: AM Shift 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: 1115 Mission Road, San Antonio, TX 78210
Overview: Seton Home works to break the cycle of abuse and poverty by providing a caring home, education, and support services necessary to transform the lives of pregnant and parenting teen mothers and their children.
All Youth Care Workers may be required to work different shifts in order to meet program needs. Below is a basic description of the general tasks required to be completed throughout the day. The below tasks are only a general outline and other job duties will be assigned in order to meet program needs.
Position Responsibilities- Supervise residents unable to attend school and interact with residents and children.
- Document daily logs and incident reports in the internal database.
- Provide care and engage children unable to go to daycare.
- Ensure cottages are clean, fully stocked, and organized during the shift.
- Supervise and log all domestic and international calls for residents.
- Facilitate physical activity and leisure activity as needed.
- Help wake residents and supervise morning routine.
- Supervise morning chores, including spray cleaning and room checks.
- Prepare and serve breakfast and assist residents during breakfast cleanup.
- Process medications from pharmacy using the internal database.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Education:
Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. - Experience:
Minimum of 1-year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting. - License and Credentials:
Reliable transportation, valid driver license, valid vehicle insurance. - Immunizations:
Must provide immunization/shot records. Background check, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry check, and Tuberculosis screening required. - Vaccination proof for influenza annually, pediatric vaccinations (varicella, MMR, DTaP/TDap) per policy. Detailed requirements as listed above.
Minimum Knowledge and
Skills:
- Experience in child welfare field (1-year).
- Basic computer skills, familiarity with Kaleida Care and MS Office.
- Ability to set and teach trauma‑informed care practices.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of human behavior and development preferred.
- Successful completion and implementation of SAMA.
- Sensitivity to cultural and socio-economic characteristics of the service population.
- Capacity to establish respectful relationships and assist clients in gaining skills.
- Team collaboration and independent work ability.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
Travel Requirements: 10% local and 10% overnight travel.
