The Residential Monitor helps maintain a safe, structured, trauma-informed residential environment for individuals participating in reentry and recovery programming. This position supports client accountability, safety, daily operations, crisis intervention, documentation, and adherence to program expectations while promoting dignity, respect, and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities
  • Ensures the facility remains clean, safe, and organized by assigning, monitoring, and documenting completion of resident and facility sanitation duties in accordance with program standards.
  • Accurately documents and maintains records of client financial transactions, including stipends and savings.
  • Responds promptly and professionally to emergencies or crisis situations by ensuring client and staff safety, notifying appropriate personnel or emergency services, and completing required documentation.
  • Conducts client, facility, and property searches, as well as administer drug and alcohol tests in accordance with agency policy.
  • Completes accurate and professional documentation related to client behavior, incidents, rule violations, safety concerns, and facility operations before the end of each shift.
  • Conducts and documents routine facility rounds, property checks, and emergency drills to maintain safety, security, and compliance with program procedures.
  • Monitors client movement, conducts accountability checks, and documents compliance with program schedules, passes, curfews, and accountability requirements.
  • Monitors meal service to ensure clients have access to meals.
  • Monitors and documents client medication self‑administration in accordance with agency policies, program procedures, and applicable confidentiality requirements.
  • Participates in the client behavioral review process by documenting incidents, gathering relevant information, and providing objective observations in accordance with agency procedures.
  • Maintains appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Uses trauma‑informed communication, verbal de‑escalation techniques, and professional boundary‑setting to respond appropriately to client crises and behavioral concerns.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Unit Manager, Assistant Unit Manager or Administrative Personnel.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in behavioral health, residential services, criminal justice, recovery support, case management, security, or related human services field preferred.
  • Must be able to successfully pass background check (fingerprints required) and drug screen.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of working with Individuals, families and stakeholders.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution‑focused in stressful or crisis situations.
  • Knowledge of available community resources and the ability to find and use new resources.
  • Ability to interact respectfully and effectively with individuals experiencing substance use disorders, mental health challenges, trauma histories, and reentry‑related stressors.
  • Ability to operate Independently, effectively and efficiently in a residential program setting.
  • Ability to complete clear, accurate, objective, and timely written documentation and verbal shift reports.
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, overnight shifts, and overtime as needed in a 24‑hour residential setting.
  • Ability to enforce program rules while maintaining professional and respectful interactions with clients.
  • Engage in regular physical demands of the job, including bending, stooping and reaching.
  • Be able to remain fully mobile, including use of stairways and extended periods standing or walking.
  • Basic computer proficiency required, including email, electronic documentation systems, internet navigation, and data entry.
