We are looking for a Cloud Platform Engineer with experience in Cloud technology (AWS), programming skills in Go, and a strong Linux foundation. This role will significantly contribute to the development of custom software components and integration of open-source code to address complex problems through the use of cutting‑edge Big Data / Cloud technology. The candidate will be expected to work autonomously, identifying and solving problems quickly while working toward broader strategic goals set by Architects on the team.

Work is performed in a hybrid environment with a great team. This position allows partial telework.

• Design and implement core architecture and capabilities for software from prototype to operational applications.
• Integrate custom software components and open‑source code to address complex problems.
• Work autonomously to identify and solve problems quickly.
• Collaborate with Architects on strategic goals and broader initiatives.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Strong systems integrator with an eye for opportunity to enhance, optimize, or increase robustness of an existing code base.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and modern tooling to define, build, and manage virtual infrastructure in the cloud.
• Proficient programming skills in Go and familiarity with Python or Go.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications, and proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash).
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid environment, spending 1‑2 days per week at our San Antonio, TX office.

• 9+ years of experience with a Bachelor's in related field; or 7+ years of relevant experience with a Master's in related field; or high school diploma or equivalent with 13+ years of relevant experience.

• Experience developing and deploying infrastructure in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes (or vendor flavor), ansible, storage layers (Ceph, rook, longhorn, etc.).
• Experience with programming skills in languages like Python or Go.
• Solid understanding of Linux systems, hosts, networks, security, applications, and proficiency in shell scripting (Shell/Bash).
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1‑2 days per week at our San Antonio, TX office. Flexibility is essential.

• Prior experience or familiarity with DISA’s Big Data Platform or other Big Data systems (e.g., Cloudera’s Distribution of Hadoop, Hortonworks Data Platform, MapR, etc.).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab-CI, Travis-CI, Jenkins, etc.).
• Understanding of agile software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github, Gitlab).
• Experience with puppet, ansible, maven, virtualization (ovirt, proxmox, vmware, etc.).
• DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications may be required.

Current U.S. Government Security clearance is not required at start, but will be processed for a Secret level clearance. U.S. citizenship required.
