This role also partners with external technology providers and research institutions to evaluate tools, support innovation, and enhance the organization's biomechanical capabilities.
What You'll Do:
Design and implement biomechanical assessment protocols for basketball-specific tasks.
Develop and evolve biomechanical models of player movement, including kinematic, kinetic, and coordination analyses.
Apply data science and statistical modeling techniques to identify performance KPIs and movement patterns.
Integrate biomechanical data with performance and contextual datasets to support evaluation and decision-making.
Develop clear visualizations and reports that communicate key findings to coaches and staff in actionable terms.
Contribute biomechanical insights to return-to-play processes and performance readiness decisions.
Evaluate and integrate biomechanics technologies (e.g., motion capture, force plates, IMUs, computer vision).
Contribute to internal research and innovation, including development of new metrics and analytical approaches.
Who You Are:
Master's or PhD in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Biomedical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
3-5+ years of applied biomechanics experience in elite sport or high-performance environments.
Strong expertise in biomechanics, quantitative analysis, and sport-specific movement evaluation.
Proficiency in Python for data processing, analysis, and visualization.
Experience with motion capture systems, force plates, and other biomechanical technologies.
Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for coaches and practitioners.
Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with coaching, performance, and medical staff.
Physical Requirements:
The Applied Biomechanist must be able to lift and transport equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and work in varied environments, including training facilities and game venues. This role requires a non-traditional schedule, including evenings, weekends, and travel as needed to support team operations.
