Senior Software Engineer – ALIP

• Design, develop, code, and test complex tactical and strategic technical solutions across multiple technologies
• Integrate existing systems and tools in collaboration with engineers and architects
• Lead code and design reviews
• Communicate updates to stakeholders to support smooth daily operations and accurate planning
• Develop complex algorithms to solve business needs
• Investigate and resolve complex application, system, and production issues through end-to-end troubleshooting
• Mentor and coach engineers on system design, development, and maintenance
• Review teammates' code
• Influence domain architecture and quality standards
• Identify and optimize system performance issues and technical debt
• Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks in accordance with risk and compliance policies
• Lead the Polaris team in enabling Business Configuration and Product Configuration delivery on ALIP
• Translate business and actuarial requirements into deployed configuration across the full life-insurance policy lifecycle
• Serve as primary technical liaison between USAA and Accenture
• Partner with integration, underwriting, and Data & Analytics teams to align ALIP with upstream and downstream systems

• 6 years of software development experience with depth in specific disciplines/technologies, including highly configurable, business-rule-driven systems
• 4 years delivering solutions across all phases of the software development lifecycle, including leading code/design reviews and coordinating delivery across vendor and internal teams
• Basic understanding of Java, JavaScript, SQL, Go, and Python, with practical experience applying at least one to configuration, data, or integration work
• Experience researching technical issues and troubleshooting production problems across applications, configuration, and integrations
• Experience articulating technical challenges and solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of secure coding practices and secure system fundamentals, including safe handling of sensitive member/health data
• Knowledge of cloud technologies including AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, containers, and Git Lab CI/CD
• Hands-on experience delivering Business/Product Configuration on the Accenture Life Insurance & Annuity Platform (ALIP), including business rules, workflows, page groups, lookup tables, TCDs, and automated underwriting (HLQ), deployed via CI/CD promotion pipelines
• Experience integrating ALIP with new business, underwriting, and requirement-ordering partners, and Data & Analytics/staging pipelines
• Experience in life, annuity, or health insurance policy administration
• Command of AWS EKS, PostgreSQL/Aurora, ActiveMQ/AmazonMQ, Redis, and Control-M
• Technical leadership experience serving as liaison between USAA and a platform vendor, leading reviews, and mentoring engineers

Demonstrates expertise in software development, particularly in delivering complex solutions across the software development lifecycle, with a strong focus on secure coding practices and integration within the life insurance domain. Proven ability to lead technical teams, mentor engineers, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
