Hourly base pay rate is $26.73 – $40.10/hour. The hourly base rate may vary based on location and candidate qualifications. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.

Cox Fleet is the leading provider of on-site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, offering mobile on-site fleet service for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. We service customers using 50+ nationwide service centers with additional services including accident repair, painting, refurbishment, and heavy mechanical repair.
We operate a 24/7 in-house call-center and provide scheduled and unscheduled services to fleets anywhere, anytime. Cox Fleet is hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician Level II.
- The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will perform licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and follow-up repairs, light mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Carry out minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck systems; test with handheld computers and pressure gauges; road test vehicles to ensure proper function.
- Identify problems, evaluate information, and generate/assess alternatives with sound judgment.
- Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck; perform periodic reconciliation.
- Maintain and operate the service vehicle; conduct safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Collaborate with clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve issues, and meet expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work activities and time allocations.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks; document work performed on Repair Orders using iOS device and TRAIT application with photos of work, parts, and findings.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work with independence to manage daily schedule and maintain productivity within standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
- Communicate with management and support teams to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve PO numbers, and discuss RO findings.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT; maintain the service truck and perform safety checks.
- High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ related field experience; or alternative combinations (e.g., higher degree/certification) with related field experience.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
- Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
- Must pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical; DOT medical card with remaining validity may substitute for the DOT physical as described.
- Interstate operating authority requires candidates to be 21 years or older; valid driver’s license; ability to obtain and maintain Driver Qualification File.
