Pay Range: $18.75

Shift: 4 day working week, 3-5am start time, no weekends

The Medical Waste Route Driver is responsible for servicing assigned accounts in the most professional way, ensuring that customers' needs are met on a continual basis for various waste pickup and supply delivery. This role will always provide the highest level of customer service possible. They may also transport waste from either a WMHS location or customer location, to a transfer location or processing location.

All company‑assigned vehicles are equipped with camera telematics, including inside and outside cameras, as well as an ELD (electronic logging device) and GPS.

• Manage assigned routes ensuring customers’ waste is picked up safely, timely and accurately.
• Pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, provincial, and local rules and regulations.
• Plan daily schedule based on customers’ needs by reviewing daily paperwork (manifest, route sheets, previous VCR, etc.) provided by the Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher.
• Follow routing software route schedule.
• Prepare and load trucks to service selected accounts for the day, ensuring sufficient supplies are added. Unload trucks at various Stericycle and customer sites, securing waste as required.
• Pick up specified waste from each customer site scheduled for the day, ensuring customers have packaged and prepared the waste according to all regulations before transport.
• Provide the highest level of customer service to assigned accounts daily, communicating any issues to the Transportation Manager/Supervisor or Dispatcher for resolution (e.g., reroutes, adjustments in container sizes, training).
• Secure waste, supplies, and material handling equipment prior to operating the vehicle on public roads.
• Complete assigned paperwork legibly, neatly, accurately, and completely; return to the Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher for processing. Ensure the DOT Driver Log is completed, if applicable.
• Communicate with the Stericycle Transportation Supervisor and/or Dispatcher regarding any changes to route pickups (address changes, customer not having waste ready, etc.) and ensure covering employees are aware of any situations outside the norm.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip maintenance on the assigned truck; report any maintenance problems to the Dispatcher for follow‑up. Use the ELD and Geotab to log hours in accordance with DOT guidelines, if applicable.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 0–1 year of experience, preferably in driving box trucks and route management.
• Commercial Driver’s License

  Class B or above, with an excellent driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (accredited).

• Standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, hearing.
• This job operates in both indoor garage, shop or gas plant conditions as well as outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity.
