Truck Driver
Job SummaryResponsible for being knowledgeable of the geographical area assigned and operating the vehicle within state/federal statutes and/or guidelines. Reads and speaks the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public. Acquires pick-up tickets and completes route in the most efficient manner. Loads donations on the truck in the most organized manner to allow as many pickups as possible on each truck load and to minimize damage/breakage.
Cleans and secures the vehicle and equipment; conducts daily inspections of the vehicle's oil, water, tires, and other items to maintain good operating condition.

Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of assigned geographical area. Ability to organize pick‑up tickets and schedule route to save time and fuel. Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a variety of personalities. Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED preferred but not required and one year of experience driving a heavy‑duty truck or large van or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications- Valid State Driver's License
- Valid DOT Medical Card
- Valid Commercial Driver's License, desired but not required
Ability to meet attendance requirements; read and follow a map or hand‑written directions; converse in English to respond to official inquiries and record entries; work effectively with a variety of personalities; drive a heavy‑duty truck; follow DOT regulations and safety standards. Moderate amount of strenuous physical effort required associated with sitting, walking, standing, lifting, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling and carrying heavy objects (generally over 100 lbs.)
25–50% of work time. Work requires driving a vehicle with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt and the like.
