The professional metro driver (Class

C) at River City Produce is responsible for transportation of freight to and from the RCP dock. The metro driver is expected to deliver freight to all RCP customers (locally, school district customers and food service customers) in accordance with established company procedure, following all safety guidelines while delivering in an efficient and timely manner.
The shift schedule is 12pm - 9pm, schedule is subject to change depending on business levels.

• Must be able to sit up to 6-9 hours daily (total) with periodic sitting, bending, stooping and lifting as required by the duties of the job.
• Must be able to stand up to 5-8 hours daily (total) on concrete, asphalt, gravel or dirt while as required by the duties of the job.
• Must be available evenings, weekends and holidays, as required by business demands.
• Must be able to lift/carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds, independently without assistance.
• Must be able to push or pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with assistance from pallet jack (manual or electric), hand dollies and other moving equipment while loading or unloading the truck.

• Be aware of surroundings and location of resources and tools needed;
• Read job related documents and perform various job duties.
• Must be able to read and write English in order to complete driver logs and other DOT and company related documents.
• Environmental conditions:
  • Must be able to work around noise and/or vibration generated by the truck and other equipment
  • Must be able to work around fumes, dust, gases and odors.
  • Must be able to work in cold warehouse environments (33°- 56°F) as required by the job.
  • Must be able to work in warm outdoor environment (up to 100°+
    
    F) as required by the job.
• Must be alert and able to identify a safety hazard and report it immediately or, if directed, take corrective measures to prevent the safety hazard.

• Minimum of 1 year on the road experience.
• Working knowledge of safe driving practices and over the road procedures in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Working knowledge of equipment troubleshooting and vehicle maintenance.
• Working knowledge and ability to use manual and electric pallet jacks, hand dollies and other moving equipment.
• Ability to perform general warehouse duties in the areas of shipping and order selection as needed.

• High school diploma or GED required
• Bilingual preferred, but not required (English/Spanish)
• Current drivers license
  
  Cwith no moving violations or other offenses within the past 3 years
• Pass a drug screen/Criminal background check.
• Must be able to properly navigate assigned delivery routes utilizing tools such as maps, atlas’, internet, etc.
