Position: Administrative Supervisor I (County Promotional)

This recruitment is only open to current San Bernardino County, San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, or Special District employees who hold a regular, intern, contract, extra‑help, recurrent, Public Service Employee, or Work Experience Program (WEX) position. Former PSE, WEX, or interns are eligible to apply up to six(6) months from the end of their assignment.

San Bernardino County is recruiting for Administrative Supervisors I to oversee a medium to large staff who provide general administrative support and make procedural recommendations, conduct program analysis and special studies that rely on data analysis and interpretation to justify budget recommendations. The incumbent will prepare and monitor budget and/or financial operations, oversee contract/grant applications, research availability and requirements, and may also conduct project management in new construction, remodels, future facility planning, ongoing operations, lease review, and the development of data analytic projects.

This position is used throughout the County, as well as in the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District and Special Districts Departments; the list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur. The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District and Special Districts Department are separate entities from San Bernardino County, and compensation and benefits for their positions are set forth in a different compensation plan(s).

Required Experience

Option 1:
Contracts/Organizational Experience
– Eighteen (18) months of full‑time equivalent professional‑level administrative experience performing analytical duties as a primary job function in the areas of contracts, bid/proposal, or grant management.

Option 2:
Fiscal/Budget Experience
– Eighteen (18) months of full‑time equivalent professional‑level administrative experience performing analytical duties as the primary job function in the areas of budget/fiscal management, financial analysis and/or accounting.

Option 3:
Professional Experience
– Two (2) years of full‑time professional‑level experience with primary responsibility for analyzing, interpreting, and making recommendations to management in a combination of the following areas:
Budget/Financial Analysis;
Requests for Proposals/Contracts;
Analysis and Interpretation of Quantitative Data;
Facilities Planning/Property Management;
Planning;
Grants Management;
Organizational Analysis; or Project Management.

Required Lead/ Supervisory Experience – One (1) year of lead or supervising work experience over a support services staff.

Required Education – A completed bachelor's degree in Public/Business Administration, Behavioral/Social Science, or another relevant field of study. Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education‑recognized accrediting association. Degrees or coursework completed outside the U.S. must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential‑evaluation service showing equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a U.S. accredited institution.
