Salary: $23.00 per hour
Work Schedule:
30 hours per week; schedule to be arranged, typically Monday-Friday from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Some nights and weekend work may be required.

- Under minimal supervision of the Director of the Basic Needs & Student Support Center, the Wellness Coach will work independently to provide outreach, screening, resources assistance and support.
- Develop an understanding of all Basic Needs & Student Support services and program intake procedures (e.g., Swipe Out Hunger, Cal Fresh Outreach, Cal Fresh Healthy Living, Emergency Grant program, Emergency Housing program, student direct aid, and more).
- Develop an understanding of Cal Fresh program policies and procedures.
- Outreach to vulnerable student groups over the phone and in-person to create awareness and education about Cal Fresh food benefits.
- Educate students on eligibility for basic needs services and provide intake assistance and support as necessary.
- Educate students on eligibility for Cal Fresh benefits and provide pre-screening, application assistance and support as necessary.
- Provide case management for students requiring help completing the application process and maintain benefits.
- Facilitate classroom and/or group presentations and group informational sessions.
- Track all basic needs intake activities, Cal Fresh outreach activities, basic needs pre-screens, Cal Fresh applications submitted, outcomes, and other basic needs data.
- Track intake and referrals to other basic needs programming.
- Maintain a student caseload with accurate records and information.
- Log student summary notes in the Basic Needs Care Unit.
- Refer students to additional resources available through the Basic Needs & Student Support Center and the integrated Holistic Support.
- Respond promptly to department inquiries and messages via return phone calls or emails.
- Maintain student confidentiality.
- Maintain daily operations of the Basic Needs & Student Support Center, assist in managing department calendars, correspondence, center opening and closing duties, and department organization.
- Maintain utilization records of basic needs services, including student self-check-in, processing donations, processing incentive gifts, tracking case notes, data entry, and logging student summary notes in the Basic Needs Care Unit.
- Maintain snack inventory, quality control, and rotation of personal care items per policies and procedures.
- Keep space and storage areas clean and organized; ensure neat, stocked workstations and center cleanliness.
- Maintain crowd control during busy times and answer incoming calls with professional etiquette; manage mail routing as appropriate.
- Disseminate center information and respond to phone calls, emails, and walk-ins.
- Create newsletters and announcement letters.
- Support a high volume of RSVP replies with courteous communication to students and guests.
- Replenish office supplies to ensure ample inventory for staff.
- Attend staff meetings and all required training as scheduled.
- Work on special projects as assigned.
- Education: Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience: Two years of experience in a variety of student or social service programs.

Required:
Understanding of the challenges faced by undergraduate college students and ability to assist students in navigating this environment; knowledge of college student basic needs concerns and best practices for individual, community, and system well-being.
