Under the lead work direction of the CSBS Intervention and Retention Specialist, CSBS Peer Mentors are responsible for providing basic support services to students majoring in Psychology. These services aim to promote student success and may include assistance with PAWS interpretation, academic planning, grad school prep, and basic career info.
Responsibilities- Peer Support Appointments:
Meet with psychology students in-person or virtually to provide basic guidance for the psychology major or minor. - Resource Referrals:
Help fellow students connect with campus/college services such as tutoring, advising, mental health support, basic needs, financial aid, or student clubs. - Training:
Participate in training sessions and team meetings to grow your knowledge and skills in peer support, outreach, and wellness advocacy. - Recordkeeping:
Enter summary reports and maintain spreadsheets to track appointment data. - Correspondence:
Help manage the advising email account, including monitoring incoming messages, responding to routine inquiries, and forwarding messages to the CSBS Interventionist when appropriate.
- Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Qualification:
Admission or registration as a CSU student.
- Maintain a 2.0 G.P.A. or greater per semester and cumulative.
- Students must be enrolled in at least halftime units at CSUSB (6 units undergraduate; 3 units graduate)
- International students must have full-time enrollment at CSUSB. (12 units undergraduate; 6 units graduate)

- Payroll Requirement:

- Psychology major
- Undergraduate student with Junior or Senior standing
- Availability to work at least 10 hours per week
- Preferred minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Student Employment Anticipated Hiring Range: $16.90 per hour.
The compensation offered will consider internal equity and experience among other factors.
Position InformationWork status:
Part-Time, Temporary, Seasonal
Monday through Friday (8:00 am – 5:00 pm).
Summer available hoursMonday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm).
