SUMMARY
DESCRIPTION:
Instruct classes at SBVC Extended Police Academy or SBCSD Basic Academy in accordance with established curriculum, Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training, and course outlines.
SPECIAL SKILLS/EDUCATION/
EXPERIENCE:
Five years' experience as a police officer, deputy sheriff, highway patrol officer or other equivalent law enforcement position. Experience may be substituted by B.A. degree.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have worked in a law enforcement position for at least five years or completed a B.A. degree with related experience (law enforcement experience related to the academy). Applicants must be eligible to obtain Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Academy Instructor Course Certificate (AICC).
Position requires sensitivity in understanding the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Previously attended the Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Evaluator class.
Prior instructor experience in an academy or college setting.

Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting.
Physical:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard;
and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision:
See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment.
Hearing:
Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction

4. Unofficial transcripts that show you meet the minimum educational requirement(s) for the position. Only transcripts showing the awarded minimum required degree or higher degree will be accepted. Transcripts must be legible. Transcripts must be from a US accredited institution. Transcripts from outside the US must include an official evaluation for equivalency. Copies of diplomas will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts if the position requires a degree.
