JOB SUMMARY
The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice seeks applicants for its part-time lecturer pool. We are seeking experienced, well-organized, and student-centered individuals to teach on the San Bernardino Campus in the following subject areas:
Social Network Analysis, Crime Prevention, Victimology, Correctional Administration, Police Administration, Terrorism, Juvenile Justice, Women & Crime, Domestic Violence, Drugs and the Criminal Justice System.
Candidates must have at least a Master's degree in a field relevant to the curriculum of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. A Ph.D. or extensive professional experience is desirable. Preference will be given to candidates who have prior teaching experience at the college or university level and who can furnish evidence of strong teaching. Preference will also be given to those with relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.
This is a pool of part-time lecturers for the department to draw on as necessary and all appointments are temporary. Staffing decisions are made on a rolling basis typically beginning a few months prior to the start of an academic term right up to the beginning of the academic term. We recommend submitting your application at least 4 months before the beginning of an academic term to be considered for available positions.
TYPICAL ACTIVITIES
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must hold Master's degree or Ph.D. in Criminology/Criminal Justice or related field at time of employment and demonstrate evidence of teaching promise.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Following a conditional offer of employment, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate may start work with CSUSB. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may result in the withdrawal of the offer of employment.
Note:
CSUSB cannot deny an applicant a position solely or in part due to a criminal conviction history until it has performed an individualized assessment and linked the relevant conviction history with specific job duties in the position being sought.
