Why Join Team SB

Make a Direct Impact in Your Community — Volunteer with Us! Are you passionate about helping others learn and grow? The City is looking for dedicated volunteers to support library programs like adult literacy tutoring and homework help. Whether you're guiding a child through homework or helping an adult improve reading skills, your time can make a lasting impact — one learner at a time.

About the City:
As a future member of our team, you'll be joining a city with deep roots, cultural diversity, and exciting momentum. Located in the heart of Southern California's Inland Empire, San Bernardino is the county seat and largest city in San Bernardino County, home to more than 222,000 residents. Its rich history — shaped by Native American, Mexican, and Spanish influences — continues to inspire the city's evolving identity.

San Bernardino offers access to major transit corridors, natural beauty, and a wide range of housing and lifestyle options. It's a place where public service careers are supported by a strong sense of community and purpose — and where motivated professionals can grow, contribute, and be part of something meaningful.

About the Position:
Library volunteers play a vital role in supporting lifelong learning, literacy, and student success in the San Bernardino community. Under the guidance of Library staff, volunteers assist with Adult Literacy Tutoring directly engaging with learners to build skills and confidence.

These roles are ideal for individuals who enjoy working with the public, believe in the power of education, and want to give back through consistent, hands-on service. Library staff provide all training and materials, making this a great opportunity for both first-time and experienced volunteers.

This is a rewarding way to make a lasting difference in the lives of others, one book, one question, and one connection at a time.
