This full-time, on-site Drivers Education Instructor role is based in San Bernardino, CA. The instructor will provide classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction aligned with state requirements, teaching safe driving practices, traffic laws, and defensive driving techniques. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, delivering engaging instruction, supervising students during road practice, and evaluating learner progress through tests and skills assessments. The role also involves maintaining training vehicles in safe operating condition, keeping accurate attendance and performance records, and communicating regularly with other staff to support student success.
The instructor is expected to promote a positive, respectful learning environment and enforce safety procedures at all times.
- Ability to design and deliver clear, structured lessons and adapt teaching methods to diverse learning styles.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills to engage and motivate young adult learners.
- Thorough knowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and vehicle operation, with a focus on safety.
- Organizational and record-keeping skills to track attendance, progress, and compliance with program and state requirements.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; driver education or instructor certification as required by the state.
- Experience working in educational, training, or youth development settings is preferred.
- Ability to work on-site in San Bernardino, CA, including occasional evenings or weekends as program needs require.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in education, transportation, or a related field is a plus.
