Overview
The San Bernardino County Department of Public Works is seeking a skilled and motivated Supervising Engineer to lead a team of professional engineers and technical staff. This role involves managing engineering projects that enhance the safety and sustainability of our communities.

Responsibilities- Oversee an engineering section and supervise staff and consultants.
- Deliver complex projects related to flood control, highways, traffic, solid waste, and fire hazard abatement.
- Ensure engineering functions are performed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Support design teams, manage consultant oversight, construction support, and prepare bids, contracts, and board items.
- Maintain design standards, quality control, and staff training.
- Provide technical guidance for traffic signing, striping, signals, and traffic control plans.

Must hold current status as a registered Professional Civil Engineer (PE) with the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs. - Education
: Option 1 – Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
Option 2 – Forty‑five semester (68 quarter) units in civil engineering or a closely related field, with a completed coursework list. - Experience
: Option 1 – Three (3) years of professional experience as a civil engineer or engineer in a related field.
Option 2 – Four (4) years of professional experience in a related field.
- Travel to various County sites is required; a valid California Class C driver’s license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be provided at hire.
- Physical demands include frequent sitting, occasional walking, standing, bending, and squatting; fine manipulation; and occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds.
- The position may expose employees to dust, gas, toxic materials, noise, and extreme temperatures.
