San Bernardino County wants you to join our team! San Bernardino County Land Use Services is seeking skilled and driven Land Development Engineers III
* to work on a variety of exciting projects. Key responsibilities may include:
- Infrastructure Plans Review:
Review street, storm drain, grading and erosion control plans to ensure they meet county and state requirements. - Technical Report Evaluation:
Review critical technical reports, including Water Quality Management Plans (WQMP) and drainage studies including hydrology and hydraulic review, ensuring adherence to environmental and safety standards. - Building Plan Review:
Evaluate building construction plans for compliance with California Building Codes and other relevant Federal and State regulations. - Project Coordination:
Represent the County in meetings with internal teams, external agencies, and developers to facilitate the processing of Planning and Building applications, ensuring regulatory compliance and the efficient coordination of land development and building projects. - Leadership:
Provide strategic leadership by offering guidance and technical support to Engineer I and Engineer II team members. - Regulatory Compliance:
Work closely with other governmental agencies to ensure projects comply with County standards, the Planning Commission's requirements, the State Map Act, Subdivision Ordinance, and other relevant State regulations.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT San Bernardino County, the largest county geographically in the United States, encompasses diverse communities across valleys, mountains, and desert regions, and the Department of Land Use Services - Land Development Division plays a key role in guiding safe, sustainable growth through development review, engineering coordination, and regulatory compliance.
The Division is responsible for reviewing local area drainage and grading plans, tentative and final maps, coordinating with the Planning Division on conditions of approval for new developments, and reviewing and processing improvement plans for roads and drainage facilities in accordance with the County Development Code and General Plan within the unincorporated areas. Staff work closely with property owners, developers, engineers, and partner agencies to support projects from submittal through construction while protecting the health, safety, and welfare of our communities and advancing responsible growth throughout the region.
