* * Under general supervision, performs professional-level accounting and financial analysis work involving the preparation, review, maintenance and automation of financial records, reports, and systems. This position supports full cycle revenue and expenditure accounting, general ledger maintenance, and financial reporting with a strong emphasis on process ownership, system optimization and process for high volume recurring transactions.
Supervision Received and Exercised Receives general supervision from the Deputy Director of Finance and direct supervision from the Director of Finance. Exercises no supervision of staff.
Essential Duties:
* The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth.
** Provides routine professional and technical assistance in the administration and implementation of the agency’s accounting, financial, and cost allocation programs
* Compile and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and records in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and agency policies and procedures.
* Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial data.
* Support year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
* Design, implement, operate, or manage process solutions to digitally transform or automate repetitive accounting tasks (e.g., data entry, reconciliations, report generation).
* Collaborate with IT and finance teams to maintain Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Robotic Process Automation (RPA) systems and troubleshoot automation issues.
* Assist in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
* Ensure internal controls are maintained and support audit requirements.
* Prepare financial statements and reports and provide insight to support business decisions regulatory compliance.
* Stay current with accounting standards, financial technologies, and RPA best practices.
* Provide training and ongoing support to staff on financial system functionalities and best practices.
* Audits, balances, resolves or reconciles discrepancies between payments, receipts, accounts and/or source documents, posts transactions in accounts, journals and ledgers.
* Reviews, maintains, and prepares a variety of financial statements and costs and statistical reports, and files in accordance with grant standards.
* Assists with the preparation of forms and materials related to budget, fixed assets, petty cash, receipts and related financial transactions; assists in preparing and proofing monthly and yearly financial reports.
* Establishes, maintains, and fosters positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including the. public, vendors, contractors, and agency staff.
* Perform routine technical and professional accounting work
* Provide specialized or general analysis support in various accounting functions,
* Analyze financial data, draw sound conclusions, and document the sources, analysis, conclusions, and recommendations.
* Interpret, apply, explain, and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local procedures, policies, rules, regulations, and laws.
* Enter and retrieve data from a computer with sufficient accuracy and speed.
* Understand and carry out a variety of complex instructions in a responsible and independent manner.
* Provide assistance to accounting staff in various aspects of the accounting and reporting function.
* Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner; organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines.
* Use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing.
* Use tact, initiative, prudence, and independent judgment within general policy and legal guidelines.
