The Follow Up Collector plays a key role in ensuring timely and accurate reimbursement for government related patient accounts. This position is responsible for the proactive followup of outstanding balances through claim review, payer communication, documentation resolution, and denial management. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, persistent, and knowledgeable in hospital revenue cycle processes, with a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance, and service excellence.
This role supports the organization's mission by maintaining compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations while helping to optimize revenue integrity.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform endtoend (cradletograve) followup on government payer accounts to resolve outstanding balances
* Review claims, identify issues, and take appropriate action to secure reimbursement
* Manage denials, including research, correction, appeal, and resubmission as needed
* Communicate effectively with government payers (including Medi Cal and CCS) to obtain claim status and resolve discrepancies
* Ensure all followup activity is documented accurately and timely within the patient accounting system
* Collaborate with internal departments to obtain missing or corrected information
* Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and organizational billing regulations
Required
Skills & Qualifications
* Minimum of
* 2 years of experience
* in
* hospital/acute care collections
*
* * EPIC experience is required
* * Experience with payer collections and billing, particularly in a hospital setting
* Strong understanding of revenue cycle workflows and followup best practices
* Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Experience
* Government payer experience, including
* Medi Cal and CCS
* * Denials management experience from
* cradle to grave
*
* Note:
* Candidates without direct government payer experience may still be considered if they have strong
* EPIC experience
* and solid experience in
* hospital collections*.

* This is a Contract to Hire position based out of SAN BERNARDINO, CA.
* Pay and Benefits
* The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
