The San Bernardino Superior Court is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Supervisor to join our team.

ABOUT THE POSITIONUnder general direction, plans, schedules, assigns, and reviews the work of assigned accounting staff within the Finance Department; performs complex and varied technical and professional accounting work, including auditing, analyzing, and reconciling various accounts, preparing financial and statistical reports, assisting in budget preparation, preparing year-end audit reports and schedules, and developing financial analysis and reporting and internal control practices; researches, interprets, and analyzes Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Trial Court Financial Policies and Procedures (FIN) guidelines;
performs related work as required.
Receives general direction from an assigned Finance Manager. Exercises direct and general supervision over assigned staff.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICSThis is the full supervisory-level class in the professional accountant series responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing, and evaluating the work of assigned staff in the Finance Department. Performance of the work requires the use of considerable independence, initiative, and discretion within established guidelines. Responsibilities include performing diverse, specialized, and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making responsibility, involving frequent contact with the public.
This class is distinguished from the Finance Manager in the latter has overall responsibility and oversight of assigned accounting and financial programs and services.

- Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of assigned staff; determines and recommends staffing needs; selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff, mentors and provides feedback to correct deficiencies, engages in succession planning and leadership development, and implements discipline and termination procedures.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, policies and procedures; develops and implements internal mechanisms for the continuing review of services administered, recommends improvements and modifications and prepares various reports on staff activities and projects.
- Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, procedures, work standards, and internal control systems; ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations as well as governmental accounting and auditing standards.
- Provides advice and analyses in the administration and implementation of the Court’s financial, auditing, budget, and accounting programs; analyzes various financial reports.
