Job Summary:

To operate an offset duplicating machine and/or digital reprographic copiers in order to reproduce typewritten and handwritten material; and to maintain and make minor adjustments to equipment to ensure proper functioning. Supervision:
Positions in this classification are supervised by the Printing Services Supervisor. Positions in this classification exercise no supervision.

Essential Job Functions

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Set up and operate offset presses and/or digital reprographic copiers, duplicating in the reproduction of such materials as bulletins, booklets, school forms, letters, and instructional material.
  • Adjusts paper feed and guides for weights and sizes of stock.
  • Inks and adjusts rollers.
  • Makes minor adjustments to machine and maintains equipment in good working condition.
  • Processes and preserves duplicating masters.
  • Operates Bruning plate maker.
  • Maintains duplicating master files and other files.
  • As required, operates other equipment such as collator, folder and power stitcher.
  • Operates power paper cutter.
  • Performs related work such as assembling, stapling, folding, counting and padding or reproduced materials.
  • May operate and maintain a small print shop.
  • Operates a forklift to unload supplies received from the warehouse.
  • Sets up copiers for extended production runs, and monitor the equipment to ensure that the copy process is being performed appropriately.
  • Clean, adjust and perform non-technical maintenance on reprographic equipment.
  • Collate, assemble, trim, bind, staple and package printed and duplicated materials.
  • Maintain files and records of print and duplication masters and plates.
  • Prepare logs and reports regarding print production, supply usage and equipment maintenance schedules.
  • May assist in the in-service and training of other print production personnel.
  • Performs job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Experience, Education, and Training:
One year of experience in the operation of offset duplicating machines and/or reprographic copiers. High school diploma or equivalent.

This is a non-exempt position, Regular Classified Salary Range 36. Most positions in this class work 8hours/12months. The probationary period for employees in this classification is six (6) months (or 130 working days of paid service). Benefits:

Written Examination. Weight: 100%. Only qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the examination process. Successful candidates who pass all parts of the examination process will be placed on the eligibility list in order of their relative merit. Candidates will be notified in accordance with the Personnel Commission Rules. This eligibility list will be active for a period of (1) year.
