Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory)

The Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW), Inland Deserts Region has an exciting opportunity for an outgoing, independent, and highly motivated Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) to serve as an integral part of a team implementing the Habitat Conservation Planning Program working on Renewable Energy Projects and Conservation and Mitigation Banks in the Inland Deserts Region. The Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory) will be responsible for supervising and directing the work of staff focused on permitting of energy projects within the Inland Deserts Region including;
California Endangered Species Act (CESA) early consultation and issuance of Incidental Take Permits (ITPs);
Lake and Streambed Alteration (LSA) permitting, Conservation and Mitigation Banking (CMB) review, approval and implementation and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review. This work includes supporting direct reports with early pre-consultation, education, and outreach efforts, to proactively address potential project issues with applicants for a more expedited and efficient environmental review process.

Personal Leave Program:
Effective July 1, 2025, state employees are subject to temporary salary reductions ranging from 2% to 4.62% in exchange for Personal Leave Program (PLP) hours. Please note that the salary ranges listed in this Job Control may not reflect these reductions associated with the 2025 Personal Leave Program.

This position may be eligible for a telework opportunity in accordance with departmental policies and operational needs. Beginning July 1, 2026, employees will be required to work in-person at least four (4) days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25. Additional in-office days may be required based on operational needs.
