The Sheriff’s Department is recruiting for Unmanned Aeriel Specialists to provide aerial intelligence support to the Real-Time Information Center (RTIC). Essential duties include deploying and operating drones to provide aerial observation during critical incidents, searches, and law enforcement operations supported by the RTIC;

monitoring drone operations and ensuring aerial video feeds are integrated into the RTIC operation environment to support situational awareness for field personnel; and conducting pre-flight planning, airspace coordination, and safety checks to ensure drone operations comply with applicable FAA regulations and department policies.

• Background Investigations:
  Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony and must successfully pass an extensive background investigation, which includes a medical, drug, and fingerprint check, and a polygraph examination.
• Availability:
  The Sheriff’s Department is a “24/7” operation. Applicants must be available to work all shifts, including rotating shifts that may include weekends and holidays, and may be required to assist after normal duty hours in emergency situations.
• Travel: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent work experience which involved providing support functions for sworn law enforcement personnel in the following areas: evidence collection, storage and security; assisting with investigations; equipment inventory, maintenance, storage, and transportation; and contacting and coordinating services with internal and external agencies/departments.

The ideal candidate will have:

• An FAA Part 107 certificate.
• Experience using  and the Property and Evidence Tracking System (PETS).
• A thorough understanding of the chain of custody.
