Position Description
Our Financial Aid Team is looking for personable students who are interested in working with assisting current, prospective students and their families in overcoming financial barriers. Our Student Assistants will help students apply for financial aid, raise awareness of State and Federal Financial Aid and Scholarship Resources. Also, assist with financial aid activities such as workshops, presentations and Financial Aid Awareness Day.
Responsibilities:
- Providing support to other students, staff, faculty & community members with their questions at the front desk
- Assist in responding to student emails and phone calls
- Assist with indexing student forms
- Assist with special projects

- Build leadership and customer service skills
- Gain comprehensive knowledge of financial aid resources
- Establish relationships with administrators, faculty, staff and students at Skyline College
- Completed a FAFSA Application and eligible for the Federal Work Study Program
- Must be a Skyline College student in good academic standing enrolled in 6.0 units or more each semester
- Meet Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress (Cumulative 2.5 GPA and 67% Pace Rate)
- Knowledge of Zoom, WebSMART Microsoft Suite Programs and CCC Apply, etc
- Must be willing to commit to the position for a minimum of one year
- Available to work 10-15 hours a week (may work up to 20 hours per week)
- This is a Federal Work Study position and applicants must be eligible.
- Effective communications skills
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude at all times
- Respectful interaction with people who are diverse in their cultures, language groups and abilities
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all student records and sensitive matters
- Exhibit excellent leadership skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and prioritize workloads
- Maintain an effective working relationship with Skyline College faculty, staff, students and other departments
