Software Engineer III, You Tube Shorts, Client Side Mobile (iOS) Development

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Products must handle information at massive scale and extend well beyond web search. The role focuses on the You Tube Shorts consumption experience, primarily building and improving native iOS features while also engaging across client development, cross‑platform UI, and front‑end services.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with iOS development.
• 2 years of experience personalizing user interfaces through data‑driven insights.
• 2 years of experience with software development in Swift.
• 2 years of client side development experience.
• 2 years of experience building features for native iOS (Swift) platforms, with experience developing cross‑platform UI components.

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
• Experience programming in C++ and Objective‑C.
• Experience with Android development.
• Experience personalizing user interfaces using machine learning.

The team focuses on Shorts growth surfaces and features along four primary dimensions: making it easy and seamless to get entertainment and information throughout the day, encouraging more active participation on the platform, and inspiring viewers to become creators. In addition, the team works on improving and scaling Shorts front‑end serving to support our roadmap as well as that of partner teams and an exciting initiative to leverage ML to personalize the Shorts watch page UI.

• Drive full‑stack development in the You Tube Shorts consumption experience, offering opportunities across client development (native iOS and Android), cross‑platform UI (go/elements), and C++ frontend serving (server platform).
• Leverage Rasta, SQL/Go pipelines, and other tools for experiment and data analysis.
• Pioneer new work streams to build ML models and heuristics that will personalize and optimize the Shorts player UI.

US: $147,000 - $211,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits
