The Mechanical Engineering Lead will be a key leader in the design & development of complex medical robotic systems and associated accessories. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and will take ownership of the product design, development, clinical evaluation, verification/validation, and transfer to manufacturing.
Responsibilities:- Design leadership and ownership of complex robotic systems for surgical applications
- Design and integration of custom electro-mechanical components including motors, gearboxes, servo controllers
- Design and develop automated testing devices and fixtures to conduct functional and reliability tests on electro-mechanical subsystems
- Collaborate with Clinical Engineering, Product, Industrial Design and Marketing teams to quantify, capture and pre-validate product/user requirements
- Ideate new ways of rapid prototyping and design iterations to validate concepts
- Lead and contribute to dFMEA, uFMEA, and requirements documentation
- Use Design For Manufacturability, Assembly and Service-ability principles to reduce cost, simplify assembly and service-ability
- Generate novel ideas that strengthen the company’s IP position in the field of surgical robotics and minimally invasive surgery, along with generation of invention disclosures
- Work collaboratively and efficiently in a fast-paced start-up environment with minimal supervision and guidance
- 7-10 years of experience with the design of complex electromechanical systems
- B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Experience with managing a small technical team
- Experience with medical device development processes
- Experience with PLM systems such as Agile, Minerva, or similar
- Experience with design for manufacturing, design for reliability and assembly
- Experience transferring design to manufacturing including detailed drawing and assembly instructions
- Experience with verification and validation of complex electro-mechanical systems
- Experience leading risk analysis and documentation including dFMEA and uFMEA
Compensation: $142,400 - $213,600 a year. Consistent with applicable laws, an employee's pay within this range is based on a number of factors including relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, and/or geographic location. Noah Medical reserves the right to modify this range as needed. Please note that this range is only one component of the position's total compensation package.
