We are seeking a hands-on Equipment & Tooling Engineer to support the design, development, release, and implementation of tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment used to produce next-generation electrical systems.
In this role, you will work closely with Product Design, Process Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to develop practical tooling and fixture solutions that enable efficient, repeatable, and scalable production. You will support new product introductions by adapting existing equipment, designing and building manufacturing fixtures, and implementing process improvements on the production floor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Design, develop, and release production tooling, fixtures, work holding, and operator aids to support manufacturing operations.
- Partner with Product Development, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations teams to support new product introduction (NPI) activities.
- Create 3D CAD models, drawings, bills of materials, and documentation for tooling and fixture designs.
- Build, assemble, test, and implement tooling solutions on the manufacturing floor.
- Modify and improve existing tooling to increase throughput, improve ergonomics, reduce defects, and enhance overall process capability.
- Support validation and qualification of new tooling prior to production release.
- Work directly with operators and production teams to identify manufacturing challenges and develop practical solutions.
- Coordinate fabrication of tooling components with internal machine shops and external vendors.
- Drive root cause investigations related to tooling, fixture performance, and manufacturing process issues.
- Establish tooling standards, maintenance requirements, and documentation to support long-term production needs.
- Support equipment integration activities when tooling interfaces with automated manufacturing systems.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and cost reduction..

Experience/Education- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience designing, developing, or supporting manufacturing tooling, fixtures, automation equipment, or production systems.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, production, or industrial engineering environment.
- Strong mechanical design aptitude and hands-on engineering skills.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as Solid Works, Creo, Inventor, or similar platforms.
- Experience creating engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, assembly methods, tolerancing, and fixture design principles.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and implement practical production solutions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable spending significant time on the production floor supporting implementation and continuous improvement activities.
Candidates may have experience in a subset of the following areas
- New tooling and fixtures are delivered on schedule and successfully deployed into production.
- 3D CAD software for mechanical design or equipment modifications
- PLC programming or device configuration software
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
- Discrete simulation modeling
- Extracting and analyzing manufacturing or equipment performance data
- Assembly, maintenance, or optimization of roll-to-roll manufacturing systems
