Client is seeking a hands-on, enterprise-level Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and operational support of network infrastructure, including new lab environment buildouts. This is a highly technical, individual contributor role that serves as the subject matter expert for network architecture, routing & switching, security integration, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
The ideal candidate must have deep expertise in Juniper networking (routing, switching, and cabling), strong experience with Palo Alto firewalls
, and working knowledge of Meraki (particularly for IoT device management). This role requires daily onsite presence in San Carlos, CA or Austin, TX.
- Lead enterprise-wide network architecture, design, implementation, and operations.
- Design and deploy new lab network environments.
- Lead all aspects of routing & switching design, architecture, and equipment lifecycle management.
- Provide technical evaluation of emerging network technologies and recommend improvements.
- Design and implement network improvements to enhance performance, capacity, and scalability.
- Develop and maintain detailed network diagrams and documentation.
- Install and configure networking hardware including LAN switches, Wi-Fi infrastructure, and firewalls.
- Configure and manage Juniper networking equipment (core requirement).
- Administer and support Palo Alto Networks firewalls
. - Support and manage Meraki environments
, including IoT device connectivity. - Perform network vulnerability assessments and publish findings.
- Update network equipment firmware and maintain lifecycle standards.
- Support compliance, risk management, and security initiatives.
- Work with PHI and complete required HIPAA/privacy/security training.
- Lead day-to-day network operations to ensure reliability and availability.
- Monitor network performance and respond to alerts.
- Provide Tier II/III support; respond to tickets and troubleshoot complex issues.
- Participate in 24/7 network operational support rotation.
- Lead incident response and Root Cause Analysis (RCA); publish reports as required.
- B.S. in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 8+ years of networking experience.
- At least 5+ years in network design and enterprise operations.
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Juniper routing & switching (required)
- Meraki networking solutions
- Cabling and physical infrastructure buildouts
- Deep knowledge of:
- L3/L7 networking and firewall technologies
- Network security principles
- IDS/IPS systems
- Internet and network protocols
- Cloud networking and cloud security architecture
- Experience with Linux and Windows OS administration.
- Experience working in regulated environments (HIPAA/PHI preferred).
