Build the Supply Chain Behind What Matters.
At Pacific Rubber & Packing in San Carlos, CA we help keep critical industries moving.
From aerospace and energy to medical equipment and manufacturing, our customers rely on us to deliver the sealing solutions and engineered components that keep their operations running. When the right part isn't available, production stops. When supply chains break down, customers feel it immediately.
That's where you come in.
We're looking for a Senior Buyer/Planner who thrives on solving complex supply challenges, building supplier partnerships, and creating order out of uncertainty. This isn't a role for someone who simply places purchase orders. It's for someone who wants to own outcomes, influence strategy, and make a measurable impact on business performance every day.
What You'll Do- You'll be trusted to manage some of our most critical supply relationships and inventory investments while helping shape how purchasing and planning operate across the company.
- You will:

- Partner directly with domestic and international suppliers to improve cost, lead time, quality, and reliability.
- Analyze demand, inventory, and capacity data to anticipate problems before they occur.
- Own supplier negotiations and help drive long-term business results.
- Build tools, reports, and processes that improve visibility and decision-making.
- Collaborate with sales, operations, customer service, and leadership to solve customer challenges.
- Help mentor developing buyers and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

- You enjoy turning data into decisions.
- You ask questions others don't think to ask.
- You don't wait for problems to become emergencies.
- You understand that a successful supply chain is built on relationships, planning, accountability, and execution.
- You are equally comfortable discussing inventory strategy with leadership, negotiating with suppliers, and diving into spreadsheets to uncover insights.
- Most importantly, you take ownership.
- Within your first year, you'll:
- Strengthen relationships with key strategic suppliers.
- Improve inventory performance while maintaining service levels.
- Identify and reduce supply chain risk across critical product lines.
- Develop planning tools that improve visibility and forecasting accuracy.
- Become a trusted advisor to sales, operations, and leadership teams.
- Help elevate the overall capability of our purchasing and planning function.
- 6+ years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, planning, procurement, or inventory management.
- Strong MRP and ERP system experience.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills.
- Experience negotiating with suppliers and managing business-critical relationships.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
- A mindset focused on ownership, continuous improvement, and results.
- Preferred:
- APICS / CPIM certification.
- Manufacturing or industrial distribution experience.
- Experience with rubber, sealing, engineered components, or related industries.
- Exposure to forecasting, capacity planning, and S&OP processes.
- We're large enough to tackle meaningful challenges and small enough for your work to matter.
- Here, your ideas won't get buried in layers of bureaucracy. You'll have visibility, ownership, and the opportunity to influence how we operate.
- You'll join a company with more than 40 years of industry expertise, a loyal customer base, and a leadership team committed to growth and continuous improvement.
- If you're looking for a role where you can build, improve, influence, and make an impact, we'd like to meet you.
