Test Site Asset Engineer - Air Defense

In your role as a Test Site Asset Engineer on the Air Defense team, you are responsible for delivering and sustaining a fully mission-capable test site that meets our engineering teams' testing requirements and exceeds their expectations. You fulfill this responsibility through rigorous operational execution, detail orientation, proactive communication, deep understanding of the test mission, and hard-won product expertise. You feel ownership over the health and performance of all assets and technologies at your site, and ensure the system delivers when the team needs it most.

Much of this work is hands-on and top-level: occasional hardware swaps, command-line SSH access, restarts, and basic troubleshooting to keep systems online. When an issue falls outside what can be resolved that way, you coordinate with subject matter experts across product lines and teams to diagnose and fix it, or coordinate SMEs and logistics to replace the affected hardware — communicating issues clearly and documenting solutions along the way.

You also represent the realities of the test site back to Anduril, communicating feedback and lessons learned to continuously improve our products and our team. Above all, you set the standard for what good looks like at your site, and you rally your Anduril teammates to meet that standard every single day.

Own the daily health of your assigned test site — serve as the single point of accountability for keeping all systems fully mission capable, monitoring status on a daily basis and driving any degradation to resolution

Maintain systems through occasional hardware swaps, command-line SSH access, restarts, and top-level troubleshooting to resolve issues and restore capability with minimal downtime

When an issue exceeds top-level troubleshooting, coordinate with subject matter experts across product lines and teams to diagnose and fix it, or coordinate SMEs and logistics to replace the affected hardware

Clearly communicate issues to SMEs, effectively coordinate the path to resolution, and document solutions for future reference

Work with engineering to define the correct equipment to have at each site to ensure representative testing

Ensure our test site assets are fully mission capable across all sites — including fixed hardware, mobile hardware, and flight assets

Work with site infrastructure to ensure assets have reliable power and network connectivity

Create a sustainment and sparing plan for parts including budget and timing

Track failure rates and anticipate maintenance windows to build a cost and support model for years to come

Maintain lab spaces to a high level of organization and professionalism, creating processes for labeling, organization, and stock tracking

Maintain hazard safety training and processes, fostering an environment and culture to promote safety as the number one priority

Organize and control inventory of assets and spares

Travel to test sites and field as needed

Required qualifications include:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in an engineering capacity or similar
  • Demonstrated problem solving at the interface of hardware, software, and networking in unstructured environments
  • Comfort working in a command-line environment (SSH, restarts, basic Linux workflows) to triage and resolve issues
  • Working knowledge of IP networking fundamentals — troubleshooting connectivity, IP addressing, and basic network issues
  • Strong communication and coordination skills — able to clearly convey technical issues to SMEs, drive cross-team resolution, and document outcomes
  • Familiarity with basic AC/DC power (single-phase, three-phase)
  • Demonstrated hands-on fabrication and assembly skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail and passion for creating and maintaining high-performing, organized spaces
  • Familiarity with Jira or other agile development software
  • Inventory management experience
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding, flexible team environment
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with environmental chamber equipment, vibration qualification testing, and/or battery discharge testing
  • Familiarity with electro-mechanical systems such as motors, computers, and power systems
  • Familiarity with hydraulics and hydraulic actuators
  • Experience with machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and 3D printing
  • Demonstrated sense of drive and ability to work in cross-functional teams effectively
  • Eligible for a US security clearance

US Salary Range: $112,000 - $149,000 USD
