Accounting Manager

Bio Phase Solutions specializes in recruiting top talented professionals for Southern California's Life Sciences community. We are currently looking for a Temporary (9-10mo) ONSITE Accounting Manager for a leading San Diego area biopharma company.

• Manage assigned areas of the monthly close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and close-related analyses.
• Support accounting tied to research and development operations, including accruals, vendor spend tracking, and project-level reporting.
• Prepare and review detailed accounting schedules, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness.
• Partner with FP&A, Procurement, IT, Facilities, and scientific teams to support reporting needs and resolve issues.
• Participate in ongoing financial systems initiatives, including testing, data validation, and workflow alignment.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and subledger reconciliations.
• Support physical asset inventory efforts in collaboration with Facilities and Operations teams.
• Prepare variance analyses and financial support for leadership and audit purposes.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, documentation, and standardization within existing accounting processes.
• Assist with audit support and internal control activities as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
• 6+ years of combined public accounting and industry experience, ideally within biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences.
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and experience applying accounting guidance to complex transactions.
• Advanced Excel proficiency, including ownership of complex accounting schedules and models.
• ERP experience required;
  Workday experience is a plus.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage priorities independently.
• Experience operating within a SOX-aligned or parent-company control framework preferred.
